Product Highlights at IBC2011

TFU-UT Bowtie Slot Turnstile Antenna
SPX Communication Technology's patented TFU-UT is a low-power and economical broadband UHF omni-directional antenna. The TFU-UT features a simple feed system and durable aluminum construction with protective radome. Its lighter-weight, cross-bowtie configuration combines structural integrity with a low-windload design, eliminating the need for an internal mast and associated hardware. Each bow tie represents two batwings in a turnstile configuration, further eliminating half of the required feedlines and radiators. The TFU-UT features dual inputs for single or multichannel broadcasting without the need for a combiner. The antenna offers a power rating of 1 kW into a 7-16 DIN input, and 500 W into a type N input. The horizontally polarized TFU-UT features a bandwidth of 470 MHz to 860 MHz and a gain of 5 dBd.

DCR-M FM Antenna Series
SPX Communication Technology's DCR-M series of FM antennas is optimized for use in high-power broadband applications. The antenna's wide bandwidth and high power input capabilities are ideal for supporting multistation broadcasting. With circular polarization, a single-bay power rating of 18 kW, and the ability to stack arrays of up to 16 bays, the DCR-M provides an input rating of up to 40 kW. The DCR-M's stainless steel construction, low ice sensitivity, and optional integrated deicer make it a suitable choice even under harsh environmental conditions. Each DCR-M is supplied with a fine matcher for field optimization. Each DCR-M antenna is available with directional arrays custom built to the needs of the station. In addition, a custom feed design allows for reduced downward radiation via shorter spacing in a series-fed configuration. Beam tilt and null fill options are available.

TUA-M Mid-Power Broadband UHF Antenna
With an impedance of 50 Ohm, wide bandwidth of 470 MHz to 860 MHz, and 1 kW power rating per panel, the TUA-M mid-power antenna from SPX Communication Technology is ideal for single and multiplexed stations. Offering a versatile solution for stations with unique pattern requirements, the TUA-M offers customized beam tilt and null fill for multipanel arrays, and excellent horizontal pattern control. The antenna features a rugged, field-proven design and is constructed to operate in severe environments subject to high winds and heavy ice loading. The TUA-M offers an individual panel radome, an aluminum backscreen and radiating element, and 7-16 DIN input. The antenna is DC grounded for lightning protection.

60000 Series Standard Coaxial 4-Port Motorized Switch
The 60000 Series switch is used to automatically patch a transmitter's output to a dummy load, between main and standby antennas, bypassing intermediate RF systems. The device utilizes single pole, double throw type limit switches for readout and position indication, ensuring that the switch is always in the correct position. For simple system set up and maintenance, the 60000 Series switch may be operated locally with no customer input wiring.

Switching for the device is accomplished using a motor drive with a 115/230 VAC, 60/50 Hz operating voltage. A manual option is also available, which is especially useful in emergency situations. The 60000 Series switch is available with 12/24 VDC or 115/230 VAC control voltage options with no field modifications, in addition to remote control options. Suitable for indoor applications, the switch offers low VSWR of d1.05 and impedance of 50 Ohm. The 60000 Series switch is offered in four sizes:

1 5/8-inch EIA
Frequency range: 900 MHz
Average power:
• 108 MHz – ≤12.1 kW
• 230 MHz – ≤8.3 kW
• 776 MHz – ≤4.5 kW
• 860 MHz – ≤4.3 kW

3 1/8-inch EIA
Frequency range: 900 MHz
Average power:
• 108 MHz – ≤40.5 kW
• 230 MHz – ≤28 kW
• 776 MHz – ≤15.1 kW
• 860 MHz – ≤14.4 kW

4 1/16-inch Flanged
Frequency range: 800 MHz
Average power:
• 108 MHz – ≤64.7 kW
• 230 MHz – ≤44.6 kW
• 776 MHz – ≤24.1 kW
• 860 MHz – ≤22.9 kW

6 1/8-inch EIA
Frequency range: 800 MHz
Average power:
• 108 MHz – ≤136.3 kW
• 230 MHz – ≤94.1 kW
• 776 MHz – ≤50.7 kW
