At IBC2010, the IABM (International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers) will be promoting a special membership offer for IBC attendees as well as a wide range of activities and services for the year ahead. IABM Director General Peter White will be a high-profile presence during the show, participating in a keynote session at the IBC Conference and in interviews with IBC TV and the IBC Daily.
IABM Annual Conference
"Strategies for Growth — Responding to the New Paradigm"
Dec. 2-3, Savill Court Hotel, Windsor Great Park, U.K. (15 minutes from London's Heathrow Airport)
The conference runs from Thursday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. to Friday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. and last year saw around 140 delegates from all areas of the industry come together to discuss and debate current issues within the sector as well as the broader economy. This event offers two days of industry information, debate, and networking, chaired by IABM Director of Business Development and Technology John Ive. Booking options and conference program are available at www.theiabm.org/conference.
Technology Webinars
In September 2010, the IABM will launch a short series of technology webinars providing an overview of some of the current hot topics within the industry. These include Understanding High Definition and Image Processing, From Tape to File and the Transition to IT, and Broadcast Distribution and Image Compression. Registration for each webinar costs just £49.95 / €59.95 / $79.95 (IABM member rate) and the content is applicable to engineers, technical salespeople, product management, and other interested parties. More information is available at www.theiabm.org/trainingwebinars. For more in-depth training, the IABM offers these same topics as individual one-day events, provided by John Ive, director of business development and technology. More information is available by e-mailing
Industry Guide
The latest IABM Industry Guide will be available at IBC and this year sees a significant change to the contents with the introduction of a glossary of industry terms (based on the well-known Quantel Fact Book) in place of the bulky supplier listing, enabling users to have a useful reference at their fingertips whenever needed. The new edition will still contain a selection of articles and case studies written specifically for the IABM Industry Guide by a wide range of commentators.
Market Sector Reports
Individual segments of the 2009 Global Market Study are now available for purchase. Until now it was only possible to purchase the entire report which, while extremely valuable, can be an expensive purchase for many smaller companies involved in one segment of the industry only. The new market sector reports enable purchasers to choose an individual segment as required and are supplied together with a condensed market overview. More information is available at www.theiabm.org/segments.
IBC Offer for New Members
Companies applying for IABM membership before the end of IBC will qualify for a three-month discount on their membership fee. Benefits of membership include discounts at key exhibitions, regular market research, networking events, regulatory and environmental updates, and useful online resources. More information is available at www.theiabm.org/membership.
