Introduction
In the 1990’s it was sufficient for a central storage and editing solution to be able to capture, hold and distribute video and audio to multiple editing and playout stations. The level of metadata which could be applied and tracked was minimal; limited, perhaps, to a clip title, creation date, file size and one or two other text-based fields.
