Tv, soccer and economic crisis. A portrait of Gold TV and the situation of regional and national broadcasting in Italy.

The offices of Gold TV are at the gates of Rome, with a modern structure in Settecamini area.  (24th October 2013)

It is a publishing group with several interests in the very articulate landscape of national tv in Italy.
Starting from Gold TV in Lazio, they have created another company called La4 Italia, which has a concession to operate four-channels on national LCN (local channel number): Gold TV is the first (channel 128), then La4 Italia (channel 129) and Italia + (channel 132), and finally, recently, they have created Ok TV (channel 170).

While today Gold TV Italia is visible all over the country, "renting tv band" from other local broadcasters, La4 Italia covers some 80% of the national territory, as well as Italia +, while for OK TV the network is under construction.
On the contrary the regional broadcasters affiliated as Gold Tv (channel 17) , Lazio Tv (channel 12) and Silver Tv (channel 71) at this time are trudging from an economic point of view.
Just like in many areas, the television industry is suffering the crisis.
One of the most successful transmissions broadcast based on football, with Pippo Franco and Luciano Moggi, is entitled "Yesterday, Moggi and tomorrow" which has given much public satisfaction. The only real difficulties have been the soccer rights of the Football League, which are too expensive.
In addition, the matches higthlight are to be shown only after a certain period of time and only under certain conditions.
This year Gold TV wants to revive the transmission, because the program is liked and new sponsors are interested. And also because the recipe of the program is well defined: a talk show about football with competent people who know what they say.
The big problem is still concerned with the rights and what the League allows some broadcasters to create and which is forbidden for many others including the regional ones.
Then another problem is the accessibility within the stadiums: tv cameras are no longer allowed there (except a few authorized services) and this is very damaging to the local or regional broadcasting.
Gold Tv has been creating for years the TV program 'Studio-Stadio' aired from the Olympic Stadium of Rome, but nowadays to include such type of show in a broadcast with national television personalities, it is much more difficult.
A television crew of a regional network as Gold TV going to Trigoria, where the Roma soccer team trains, must await their turn to ask questions, as the first questions are made by Sky, Mediaset and RAI. In Formello, where the Lazio soccer team trains, is even worse.
This is odd since Italian local broadcasting is economically important in fact, for example, the companies involved here are Gold TV and the original Tele Monte Giove, numbering more than eighty employees. About twenty people work for La4 then on the Italian national network.
This has been an active reality on the market for 35 years, the only one which has a Lazio Rome office with four studies, three control rooms and a playout at the moment and conveys thirty channels. And then a branch office in Latina, another one in Terracina, one in Formia, and two more, one in Frosinone and one in Cassino.
A regional and national broadcaster paying great attention to information and sports. With a cobweb in the area that allows you to inform in a direct way, being close to the people, even with a strategic sets, near the stadiums.
Meanwhile, other broadcasters in Lazio are striving and closing and the Italian television system is no longer capable of protecting small regional broadcasters.
In Italy, local TV stations today have over 10,000 employees, so, many jobs! And they could even create more jobs if only the government led by Letta dedicated himself to all these realities. This is the reason for many foreign investors are not interested to Italy because our laws do not provide protection.
