Test in Turin: wireless HD with Ultra Slow Motion 4K camera.

Cinevideo I-Movix for Champions with Mediaset

First in Italy to adopt the hyper slow motion I-Movix system, Cinevideo of Pescara now refreshes with new 4K UHD camera and starts test shootings in HD with wireless delivery.
This tv production company has bought a 4K Ultra Slow Motion camera for special sports occasions. It is being used on Wednesday, November 25 in Turin for the Champions League match. It is used in HD for Mediaset, rights holder, and for the first time wirelessly, then with a RF link and free to wander on field.

Mediaset is enthusiastic of this experimentation, also by virtue of the fact that it is an important test for the final of the Champions that will be next year in May, in Milan.
The new camera is called X10 UHD and is able to shoot up to 2000 frames per second in HD and up to 1000 frames per second in 4K.
It is already being used on the football league Serie A for Infront and to create the international feed as host broadcaster.
Furthermore, for the same client it was used for the European Volleyball in Rotterdam in October.
Cinevideo is called to carry out the shooting with one or more Ultra Slow Motion camera (they have 2) to provide the replay slow motion service. From this year, however, the Ultra Slow Motion comes in combination with D-Flicker, a major upgrade that eliminates the tedious typical flickering lights of the stadiums.
In detail, the D-Flicker is an external I-Movix hardware (Cinevideo has bought two) which eliminates the typical beat of the lights, a troublesome effect which tends to increase especially when the stadium lights are no longer new and lose power over time.
The machine is the result of the combined work of 15 engineers for two years; may be used only with I-Movix cameras.
It operates in real time and without delay on the signal which is shot: the camera shoots very high refresh frequencies and the frequency of discharge lights (45/55 Hz) is not uniform to that of the camera, and then generates the annoying beat that the replay emphasizes.
The necessary hardware is placed within the UltraEmotion OB-Van along with technicians, rvm and replay operator.
The camera comes native with a cinema sensor with a minimum depth of field and every little movement must prompt a focus correction.
The operator must be very good at anticipating many shots and focus correcting continuously.
An out of focus at nominal speed can be annoying but the same at ultra slow motion speed lasts 10 second and totally spoils an action.
Given the preciousness of such images they tend to offer only the nice scenes, just like in Roma-Lazio Derby where the foul outside the area on Rome and another on a player, was played in all the news bulletins.
Cinevideo has specialized in the supply of this service for 4 years, especially for Infront, with coverage of many ski races. Then also for RAI (very happy for the new D-Flicker) for all matches of the Italian national qualification Sky Championship in Europe, in Italy, and the Tour of Lombardy in October, and more.
Today the upgrade is in the mentioned D-Flickering system and the new version of the camera in 4K that also allows shooting in HD.
In the Champions League 25 November match, the latest I-Movix camera is operating wirelessly with Gigawave devices provided and managed by EI Ttowers.
In Turin two I-Movix UltraHD cameras were deployed, the principal on hi-lo covers the shooting of the game in HD, while the secondary (which can work in UHD on request) is used again in HD but wirelessly.
Freehand shooting and wireless operation are creating an important testing ground for Mediaset, which owns the rights to the games.

The constant technical updates, such as the purchase of two D-Flicker units and the new Ultra Slow Motion 4K by I-Movix, have allowed the growth of Cinevideo, currently covering, for the major broadcasters, many of the most important national and international tv events.
