Giglio Group, Media Factory 3.0

Born in 2003, Giglio Group Spa has established itself in the world with a network of contents distribution on different platforms. The Group controls two other companies: Nautical Channel and TV HK Giglio. The first is a channel distributed in 43 countries, five continents and six languages. It is dedicated to boating and water sports, visible in HD throughout Europe and Russia.

Giglio TV HK, founded in 2014, manages Group activities in China, where it is the first and only Italian television group present on all major platforms and web TV, with an offer of contents dedicated to the Italian lifestyle.
Giglio Group SpA has two channels on Italian DTT, "Acqua" and "Play.me", and provides technology services to the Group companies and to third parties companies.
On August 7th 2015, the Giglio Group entered the stock market and in September acquired a 100% stake of M-Three Satcom.
The new board sees Alessandro Giglio chairman, Michele Magnifichi with AD operational role in the coordination of activities, and Myriam Amato CFO. In the intermediate structure, the technical direction was confirmed to Andrea Bertolaja, with even greater autonomy. Silvio Borri, at the sales department.
The Giglio Group acts as a technology center not only capable to produce and merge television contents, but also distribute television signals via optical fibers and satellites worldwide, improving their production process, creating an advanced platform that integrates TV channels and contents. Among the services offered are IP contribution services with Ka-Sat NewsSpotter, Hub Vidyocast - the contribution network via multiformat IP.
The merge allows Giglio Group to incorporate a strategic partner capable of integrating distribution technologies for the television signal with optical fibers and satellites, with its platform of contents and channels in use worldwide.
Giglio Group now has two teleports, in Milan and Rome, connected by a high capacity fiber optic network to major broadcasters and a number of POP and teleports partners worldwide. The services are permanent on many orbital locations, including Hot Bird 13E, E9a, E12W, the new E70B coverage Middle East, India, Far East and others.
The result is a Media Factory 3.0, able to manage their own contents globally on all digital platforms existing and in an advantageous position for the challenges that new technologies will impose. At this base are facilities for filming and production, from monocamera to multi HD cameras, and then editing and post production facilities on outside vehicles and within the teleports.
The entry of M-Three in Giglio Group is an opportunity to launch a new phase of development, with ambitious targets but already and largely reached by the existing infrastructure, though subject to certain physiological adaptations. Parallel to an expansion in trade, investments will be made in the technical sector to gradually align all DSNG vehicles to HD H264. Currently already 3 out of 7 are updated to this standard. To strengthen the production and airing dept, two filming studios are within the two teleports. In terms of transmission infrastructure and permanent fiber connectivity, the two teleports, along with 9 uplink stations to different orbital positions and the circuit by fiber, they have already been adapted to the developments planned for the next three years.
Now the company aims particularly to the integration of the creative and productive elements of contents besides that of the transport and distribution. Without pitch invasions in the activity of customers, the aim is to achieve, in a short time, solutions that meet market needs.
It all begins with an expansion of the mentioned teleports, creating two production studios with different configurations. They are available to customers, optimizing the workflow.
It will be carefully taken care of the management of the playout area, with an enlargement of the facility and the consolidation of the relationships with partner companies to share services.
They also intend to develop immediately all signal handling by innovative systems and the whole OTT area. The focus will remain the management of transport and diffusion of signals; the change of pace will be mainly in the business strategies.
