February 2012. Italian Ordine dei giornalisti della Lombardia (Lombardy Association of Journalists) and Università Statale di Milano (Milan State University) have jointly decided to launch the first academic course of sports journalism which is a specialization course issuing a final university certificate and a special “quality stamp” of the professional association.
It is specially reserved to previous pupils of the several journalism courses scattered throughout Italy and also to journalists (professionals and freelancers) having at least a three year degree and already being involved in sports or having a sports journalistic master recognized by the Association and desiring to deepen their competence and use of the technical aspects involved,like shooting, organizing images, live comments and post production. The course is about to start and will be held between February and April, two days a week, divided in lessons and practical workshops and also trips to editorial offices of radios ant televisions and major sports companies.
The course is definitely important since it give the possibility to learn how to create a live tv comment with a tutor like Fabio Caressa (SKY), to have Bruno Gentili (RAI Sport) secrets revealed from successful tv transmission “Tutto il calcio minuto per minuto”, to be sited side by side with Sandro Sabbatini and Lia Capizzi (SKY), in Sky Sport24 tv studio, and also to discover the ingredients of the successful editorial recipe of “Gazzetta dello sport” from its director Andrea Monti and a lot more from the actual landscape of professional sports programming as far as radio, television, internet, the press and press offices are concerned.
Actually the list of journalists and academic professors who accepted to ensure their presence as tutors is still huge within the course lessons headed by journalist Franco Ordine and professor Antonio La Torre, previous olympic march trainer of Ivano Brugnetti. Among the other teachers “Tuttosport” Director, Paolo de Paola, on field reporters from “Stampa” and “Repubblica”, Roberto Beccantini and Enrico Currò, Luigi Garlando from “Gazzetta”, Giulio Mola from “Giorno” and Jennifer Wegerup, Swedish journalist daily following Ibrahimovic.
This course is particularly addressed to those who are already media professionals in order to improve the skills requested in such dynamic markets, especially in the digital tv areas, in the online activities, portals and specialized webziens, and also for those employed in sports companies and those who have other university 1st or 2nd Level Masters, achieved in Italy or abroad.
The main targets are to offer the attendees all fundamental elements of sports knowledge, plus technical, communicative and journalistic skills, together with the journalistic handling af all major sports events.

All lessons and workshops are held on Fridays (9:30/18:30) and Mondays (9:30/13:30) plus a whole day a week devoted to external trips and on field practical sessions.
On February 15th all students are guests in the editorial offices of Datasport, since 1st July 1995 is considered the first Italian website and web newspaper dealing with all sports disciplines with real time news delivered around the clock.
